Artificial Intelligent (AI) Chatbots like ChatGPT have taken the world by storm. With over 100 million users in less than two months, it is the fastest-growing computer application to hit the world, EVER! It continues to grow exponentially not only in number of users, but in its power and flexibility.

Learning Objectives:


  • Explore the recent rapid adoption of Artificial Intelligence and AI Chatbots, specifically ChatGPT-3.5/GPT-4

  • Explore the power and limitations when using these powerful tools

  • Recognize the uses and implications within the accounting profession

  • Examine ethical concerns and challenges associated with the integration of AI Chatbots like ChatGPT in the accounting sector, while contemplating their broader societal impact

Scott Dell, CPA, DBA joined the faculty of Francis Marion University in Florence, SC in 2019 as an Assistant Professor. Serving his previous institution in the Midwest for thirteen years as Accounting Program Director, Scott has been able to contribute to his student’s development by integrating a variety of tools into his classroom. Not only have these resources enhanced his student’s hard skills and technical knowledge, but they have also improved their soft skills and ability to succeed in academia and the work place. Scott recently received the Accounting Educator Award for 2018 from the Wisconsin Institute of CPAs. Scott is certified as a CPA and holds an MBA from the Wharton School, an MAE from Marian University, and a DBA from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. Scott brings real-world experiences, based on previous entrepreneurial, Big 4 and military service, to the classroom.
